HEALTH & BEAUTY
A healthy lifestyle is the key to a healthier and more beautiful you. At every reasonable opportunity, a model should eat well, sleep well, avoid drinking alcohol, avoid smoking, drink plenty of water and, of course, take regular exercise. This regime can only improve a model's opportunities in obtaining work, given that every part of their body is potentially going to be worth money. Skin, hands, nails, eyes, hair and teeth will all benefit from a healthy lifestyle and early nights. If you are serious about a career in modelling, then your health should be taken equally seriously.
PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT
It is very important to be able to get on with people in this business. Whether you are working with a hair stylist, make-up artist or the actual client, a model should never be seen to differentiate between them. Be courteous, friendly and cooperative at all times and remember that you are not only representing yourself, you are ultimately representing your agency, which could affect future assignments for everyone. It is most important that you build a good relationship with your Agency and, ultimately, those who are looking after your career.
You must always let us know immediately if you are unavailable for work for any reason at any time. Listening to what is said to you is also a good piece of advice. Your agent is there to help build your career and your success is as important to us as it is to you. If you do not listen, then you cannot learn.
REALITY
Competition, rejection, constant pressure and expectation, loneliness and financial difficulties are some of the realities you may have to face in this business. Remember that competition for work is fierce and standards today are higher than ever.
If you stick at it the chances are you will break through, but you have to remember that supermodels are in the minority. If you are looking for a glamorous career that will make you extremely rich in a few months, then try something else. Remember, not all models make it to the top and even those that do, some find that it can be just as easy a trip back down again.
If all this seems daunting, don't forget that the agency is here to give advice and guidance on all aspects of a model's career. We are not trying to deter people from entering the industry, only explaining the realities that may be faced.
